Umm al-Jimal is a place where:
…. people say “Welcome to Jordan” instead of hello.
…. kids are playfully resourceful using toothbrushes as drumsticks and buckets as drums.
…. they will refill your glass of tea before pouring theirs.
For the past 8 years of the Syrian conflict, Umm al-Jimal has been a place where the people opened their arms and hearts welcoming Syrians into their homes. Close to two million refugees have passed through Jordan, 80,000 whom live in the Za’Atari camp.
Yesterday was World Refugee Day. A day to honor all the resilient refugees and the kind-hearted people who welcomed them.
